Community Cast Call Out – Sheffield

“Women’s voices screaming to get out.”

Chol are coming to Heeley City Farm on Saturday 14 March to perform Punk Suffragette – and we’re inviting people across Sheffield to be part of it.

The campaign for female suffrage was born right here in Sheffield in 1851, when the Sheffield Women’s Rights Association launched the first ever petition in Britain calling for women to have the vote.

This project is about reclaiming that history. It’s about lifting up the working-class women, organisers and rebels whose stories are often left out, and asking what that legacy means now.

Working with partners including TRACKS, The Furnival, Heeley City Farm and Sheffield Archives, we’re creating a bold, punk-infused theatre and music performance grounded in Sheffield’s radical feminist history.

Performers – raise your voice with us!

We’re looking for people who want to step into the story and be part of the first performance of Punk Suffragette in Heeley City Farm’s new amphitheatre.

You don’t need to be a professional performer. What matters most is energy, care for the subject, and a willingness to jump in and create something together.

Rehearsals

Join us in Heeley for rehearsals on:

Thursday 12 March – afternoon, exact timing tbc
Friday 13 March – afternoon, exact timing tbc

Then get ready to rage and revel in the performance on:

Saturday 14 March, Heeley City Farm Amphitheatre

Why This Matters

Across the world, women’s rights continue to be challenged and rolled back. Remembering the movements that fought for change (and the people who led them) matters.

Sheffield has a powerful history of grassroots organising and feminist resistance. Punk Suffragette connects to that heritage and brings it roaring into the present.

How to Get Involved

If you’d like to take part, we’d love to hear from you.
