These are the four cornerstones that help us move closer to our mission.

Education

We believe creativity belongs at the heart of every school. We work with teachers and pupils to make sure every child and young person can experience the arts, no matter their background or postcode. Creative learning helps children grow in confidence, connection and wellbeing, and we champion that every day.

Community Connection

Our work is shaped by the communities we’re part of. We co-create projects that respond to local voices and help tackle inequity. With the Cholavan, our mobile creative space, we bring creativity to doorsteps, reaching people who might not usually have access to the arts.

Partnerships

Collaboration is how we grow. We build lasting relationships with schools, libraries, museums, arts organisations, community spaces and universities, working together to create opportunities that make a real difference.

Innovation and Sector Development

We want more young people to see the arts as a possible future. Our projects create new pathways into creative careers and open up the sector to people from all backgrounds, building a more diverse and inclusive creative workforce for the future.

How We Work

Through all of this, our aim is to create positive change, for individuals and for communities.
But we also hold some simple truths close:

  • We don’t tell people what positive change should look like. We create spaces where everyone can explore and define that for themselves.
  • We don’t ‘give’ people power. We make space for people to find and own their own power, in ways that feel real to them.
  • Play matters – at every age and stage. We learn, make mistakes, and grow together. We cannot and should not have all the answers
  • Honest communication matters too. We’re not afraid of difficult conversations or moments of discomfort because we know that’s often where learning happens.
  • Above all, we aim to create spaces where everyone feels respected, supported and able to grow, personally, professionally and creatively.

Strive

Strive is our anti-racism commitment. It sits at the heart of who we are, shaping everything we do. Through Strive, we keep learning, questioning and taking action to challenge racism and promote equity across all areas of our work.

We want Chol to be a place where diversity is not just welcomed but celebrated – and where discrimination has no place.
