We are delighted to be involved with Our Biennale, a Huddersfield-based festival jam-packed with arts and culture, created with and for children and young people in Kirklees, in an aim to support well-being and use arts to inspire children and young people.
Produced by the Kirklees Local Cultural Education Partnership, Evoke, Our Biennale is led by The Children’s Art School, collaborating with young people, artists, cultural organisations, and teachers in Kirklees to co-create this remarkable festival for the whole community.
We are proud to be working as production partners, delivering dance workshops in schools for a flashmob during the event and also supporting with the logistics and running of the event.
This year’s theme is ‘MAGNIFICENT ME’, with many musical, art, drama, and dance projects based on this theme being delivered throughout spring in schools and colleges.
The festival will culminate in Our Biennale Finale, taking place on Saturday 2 July, in Huddersfield town centre. Younger children can enjoy exhibitions, parades, workshops and flash mobs at The Magnificent Me Piazza Parade, 11-3pm, starting at the Piazza Centre, Huddersfield, and teenagers are invited to the Summer Slam event at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, from 3pm-7pm.
“The looks on our children’s faces are the reason why we will continue to partake in Our Biennale over and over again, absolute joy.”
— Kathy Coates-Mohammed, Head Teacher of Pentlands Infant and Nursery School
