An update on the Cholavan!

During the summer of 2020, we had an idea. An idea so big, that at first it was only something we could dream about. The idea was the ‘Cholavan’. This would be a travelling workshop space, allowing us to go into communities to deliver high quality, accessible arts activities. This would be an opportunity to break down barriers for children and young people in terms of engaging and participating in arts opportunities, while spreading joy and improving wellbeing.

With thanks to YOU, the Cholavan now exists – and it is bigger and better and more beautiful than we could have imagined! Our target was £7500, and we raised £7655, match funded to a whopping £15,310.

This has covered the costs of:

– Buying the vehicle

– Renovating the vehicle, turning it into the Cholavan and making it fit for purpose to deliver projects in communities.

The Cholavan has already travelled far and wide, recently visiting Sheffield with the youngest member of the Cholette crew – baby Mala – where it played an important role in the LISTEN 52 mini-residencies, four creative projects which make up part of our LISTEN 52 youth leadership and arts engagement project in Sheffield. Then, the Cholavan journeyed to Chellow Heights School in Bradford for the ChellowFest, where it was transformed into a spaceship, becoming a home to explore the stars and discover new planets with the brave young explorers.

We want to thank you for all of your help. Whether you have donated or shared the campaign, we are forever grateful for the support you have given us, allowing us to continue to provide meaningful opportunities for children and young people in accessible and dynamic ways.
