Chol’s Residency at Walkley Library July 2019

We had a fantastic time meeting and creating with over 100 participants at Walkley Library during the heatwave of July 2019. Over the space of our 4 day mini residency there were a number of different workshops on offer for all ages.
We began with a (very) warm welcome and an introduction workshop to volunteers at the library with our flagship programme Imaginary Communities. This was the first of many adventures we experienced over the 4 days as we ventured into a number of imaginary worlds including a secret sensory garden, literary landscapes and outer space! Despite the record breaking temperatures outside we were delighted to welcome so many participants all eager to get creative. In total we ran 6 free workshops for the public including some very special new sensory exploration sessions for under 5s and their families.

Our residency concluded on the Saturday with a Drop in and Animate workshop that ran alongside the monthly book sale at the library, where new characters, created by the young people, could explore the pages of our own children’s book, Professor Abdullah’s Metal Metropolis. These new animations can be found on our Facebook page.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers, young people and their families for a very special mini residency. We look forward to getting creative again with you in the near future.

This project has been part of our ‘Equal Players’ programme looking at developing our live story-making practice in communities.
