A Flock of Stories

A Flock of Stories will explore local people’s stories in connection to Old Moor and the surrounding area’s industrial and cultural heritage and develop them into a theatrical modern storywalk trail.

Chol will build on old archives and make new connections to create a brand new interactive promenade performance about the history of the local Yorkshire coalfield on the site of the RSPB Old Moor Dearne Valley nature reserve. The performance will include verbatim testimony, live performance and some unexpected surprises.

This project has been possible by Heritage lottery funding through the RSPB Old Moor Dearne Valley and has been designed to encourage people to visit this local nature reserve and explore the fascinating history as well as the natural beauty of the site. The history and stories of the area will be brought to life through theatre and storytelling before being preserved for future generations within digital archives.

Share your memories and tell your stories to help us preserve this important part of history.

We are currently looking for anyone who has a connection to the site who wishes to share their story with us. We have a dedicated team of oral historians who would be delighted to meet and speak to anyone who can help.

To find out how you can be part of this project please contact Lauren at lauren@wearechol.co.uk
